    DEEP IN THE WOODS

The art series "Deep in the Woods" explores the darker aspects of human psychology through the portrayal of scary monsters in a forest setting. Using a black & white scraper-board technique, the series depicts these creatures on the hunt, instilling fear and consuming both people and other beings.

The title itself suggests the deep recesses of the human mind, humorously symbolizing the presence of inner demons within us all. Through the lens of monsters, the series metaphorically delves into the human condition, representing the unknown, our deepest fears, and the inevitability of death. Drawing from a rich history of monstrous folklore, the artwork reflects on primal fears that have haunted humanity through the ages, reminding viewers of the shadowy aspects of existence lurking within the depths of the psyche.

“Heroes need monsters to establish their heroic credentials.
You need something scary to overcome
